Who is Anna-Belle Durrant?
I’m particular, critical and quite serious but on the other hand I’m a loskop, easy going and pretty darn ridiculous. I’m an amateur photographer, blogger, business owner and wife. Some people might say that’s what I do not what I am but I think what I do defines who I am and vice versa!
What is your best childhood memory?
I’m the youngest of three children, so, when I was little my brother and my sister took it upon themselves to terrorise me. At the time I was probably upset when they played their pranks on me, but now when I look back they are happy memories. Whenever we get together we laugh and laugh about the things they used to do and get away with. One prank lead to me being tied to a chair and being hurtled through my mom’s stained glass window… now that I think about it that one was pretty funny at the time, I’m surprised no one got hurt!
If you had a chance for a “do-over” in life, what would you do differently?
I’ve been through a lot for someone that’s only 21 ( =) okay you got me I’m 26)! For most of my adult life I’ve battled with depression, but I wouldn’t change a single thing. Every single experience, the good, the bad and the really flipping ugly has made me who I am today. Hitting rock bottom a few years ago taught me some pretty rad lessons about myself and other people. I’m 100% sure that without all my experience I wouldn’t be who and where I am today.
What do you feel most proud of?
Being a wife. I’m pretty critical of myself in everything I do, which I don’t think is a bad thing because I’m constantly pushing myself to be better. Being a wife to my flipping fantastic husband however is something that doesn’t come under my critical eye. I’ve never felt so content and happy doing anything in my life before. I’mont sure if any of that makes sense down on paper but that’s that!
If you could only keep three possessions, what would they be and why?
My Camera, so I could keep telling stories and learning more about the art of photography. A good pair of socks, preferably with cat faces on, because you always need a good pair of socks. A backpack, because carrying around a pair of socks and a Camera could get pretty weird.
What do you want your tombstone to say?
I don’t think I would want a tombstone to be honest, I’ve never seen a nice one. I think I’d like a tree or a cactus planted on my grave, those are way prettier.
What is She Said?
She Said is a collection of thoughts, images and just about everything that happens in my life. It started out as an outlet for writing but has grown into something so much more. I don’t see it as separate from me but rather an extension of myself. Check it out – www.shesaid.co.za
What’s your favourite kind of coffee?
Before mid 2015 I’d hardly even touched coffee, my parents are avid drinkers and so are most of the people around me, but I’d never gotten into it. I’ve started slowly testing the waters and understanding what’s what. I’ve also started being able to identify between good and bad coffee…I think so at least. I’ve got a lot to learn but I’m a fan of the espresso, especially after dinner.
In which coffee shops are we likely to bump into you?
Any place where there’s good internet hehehe. I usually hang out at Wolves a fair amount, I like the feel and I know the owners and waiters so it’s a little like a second home to me.
What does a perfect day look like?
Any day where I can take photos is the perfect day for me, seriously I could just walk around with my camera for hours and be content. After a full day of shooting it would end off with eating Avo on toast with my husband.
