Humans of coffee: Elizabeth Wible

Who is Liz Wible?

I’m a 24-year-old New Hampshire native currently living in Boston as I pursue a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communication. In other words, yes I’m totally a sucker for colorful leaves, apple cider donuts, and iced coffee no matter the weather!

What is your best childhood memory?

Whenever I think back to my childhood, I immediately think of a simple moment from when I was about seven years old. It was a sunny, summer day and I remember sitting outside on my family’s lawn in New Hampshire with my younger sister. We were eating lunch next to our kitty pool after having just run in the sprinkler and had the biggest smiles on our faces because we knew we were about to do it again. I didn’t have one single worry on my mind in that moment and it was a beautiful feeling that I feel lucky to remember.

If you had a chance for a “do-over” in life, what would you do differently?

At times I think I’ve taken myself too seriously, but I’d be too afraid to go back for a “do-over” because who knows how that would change today’s circumstances? I feel compelled to not believe in regrets when in that moment it was something that I wanted, but I think they happen sometimes and I can only learn and go forward. I’m learning not to take myself too seriously.

What do you feel most proud of?

My sense of drive. This is about to get real corny real fast, but I recently realized that you really can accomplish your goals if you:

  • Work HARD
  • Learn to accept when something isn’t meant to be
  • Drink a lot of coffee

If you could only keep three possessions, what would they be and why?

I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with rings and as hard as I try not to, basically load my fingers up with them every day. Each one holds significant meaning to me which is why they’re just about the only possessions I feel I’d be devastated to lose. Others are replaceable! I would keep the promise ring my boyfriend gave me after one year of dating back in high school, the topaz birthstone ring that my mom gave me the day I graduated from college, and a beautiful turquoise ring that my stepmom gave me for Christmas a few years back.

What do you want your tombstone to say?

Be kind.

What is #lovelylocal?

When I moved to Boston I fell in love with capturing the small shops and businesses that became a part of my daily routine and posting them to my Instagram, @lizandlavender. Once the photos I was posting on my account started gaining traction, I created #lovelylocal to help others discover new places to try. I also encourage others to share their favorite makers using the hashtag and have had a blast sharing some of my favorite submissions onto my feed!

What’s your favorite kind of coffee, brew method or coffee origin?

Almost every day I order an iced double espresso with a bit of raw sugar. However, on the coldest of days a soy cortado is all that I want!

In which coffee shops are we likely to bump into you?

What does a perfect day look like?

Waking up extra early to hop in the car and take a road trip to a new city. The coffee and food would be planned out, but everything else would happen on its own. My favorite part of exploring a city is the unexpected.

Iced double espresso with raw sugar? We’re definitely going to have to try that one!
